Join CPP photographer Walter for an all-inclusive expedition through Yellowstone and Grand Teton during late September—when fall colors blaze gold, elk bugle across valleys, and crowds have disappeared. As your expedition guide, I'll get you positioned at the right locations at optimal times, help you capture the images you're envisioning, and handle every logistical detail so you focus entirely on photography.
What You'll Experience:
The Tetons at Their Finest The jagged peaks of the Grand Teton Range provide some of North America's most iconic mountain photography. We'll position you at legendary locations like Schwabacher Landing for sunrise reflections, Mormon Row's historic barns with the Tetons towering behind, and Oxbow Bend where Mt. Moran dominates the landscape. You'll have opportunities to capture these mountains in morning mist, afternoon light, and golden hour glow.
Yellowstone's Geothermal Wonders From the vibrant rainbow colors of Grand Prismatic Spring to the dramatic terraces of Mammoth Hot Springs, Yellowstone's geothermal features are unlike anything else on Earth. We'll explore these otherworldly landscapes during optimal light—when steam rises through dawn light, when afternoon sun illuminates the colors, when golden hour transforms the basins into something magical.
Wildlife in Their Kingdom Lamar Valley—often called "America's Serengeti"—comes alive at dawn with bison, elk, wolves, and bears. We'll position for wildlife photography during their most active hours, always maintaining safe distances while using long lenses to capture intimate moments. September's elk rut adds drama with bugling bulls and active wildlife behavior throughout both parks.
Fall Colors at Peak Late September delivers spectacular autumn color—aspens glowing gold against evergreen forests, willows turning bronze along riverbanks, fall foliage creating layers of color throughout the valleys. 7-Day Expedition – The complete experience. Everything in the 4-day plus Hayden Valley at dawn, the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, Signal Mountain panoramas, and extended time in wildlife areas. Unhurried, comprehensive, immersive.
